Exterior & Interior
The polymers used to construct the Edge’s central console are boring and uninteresting. It includes solid-feeling hardware, leathers that are both quite tactile and well-stitched, and soft-touch moldings on the dashboard. The luxury SUVs from Mercedes-Benz and Audi Q5 have far higher quality materials and more careful craftsmanship, which is conspicuously absent here.
A somewhat distinct shade of silver adorns the gear selector surround, door cards, and starting button with chrome accents. The chairs seem more plush and cozy than they actually are. Sync 3’s shortcomings become apparent when contrasted with class-leading alternatives like iDrive from BMW, MMI from Audi, or Comand from Mercedes-Benz.
However, we can’t stress enough how much better it is than Sync 2 in every respect, including aesthetics, responsiveness, and use. Even while the Edge’s multimedia offerings start out simple, they get progressively more advanced as you go up the spectrum.
The Titanium package includes a nine-speaker sound system, satellite navigation, and digital audio broadcasting (DAB) radio in addition to the Sync 3 color touchscreen that is standard on all trim levels. After installing Ford AppLink on your mobile device, you will be able to access applications such as Spotify via the head unit. However, it is not at all a genuine mirroring system.
Our experience with the improved infotainment system in the ST-Line and Vignale trim levels was less than satisfactory. The system, which features a Sony audio system and is based on an SD card, was sluggish when programming, had some flakiness, and had unclear mapping. The Ford S-Max, Mondeo, and Focus should be handled in the same manner.
An optional £450 Sony system sounded strong and balanced, streamed music over Bluetooth dependably, and made finding and selecting songs a breeze in our test vehicle. Trilogy includes ST-Line, Vignale, and Titatnium as model options.
Wheels that measure 19 inches, a spoiler at the back, wing mirrors that fold electrically, parking sensors, acoustic glass, and roof rails made of chrome are all part of the Edge’s base equipment. Warm front sports seats, tinted windows, a powered tailgate, a reverse camera, and a plethora of safety features including autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition are some of the hospitable comforts.
With the ST-Line option, you can upgrade your ride with a sports suspension, 20-inch alloy wheels, a bodykit, black roof rails, power front seats, a Sony audio system, and fake suede upholstery. When it comes to exclusivity, workmanship, and equipment, Ford’s top-tier Vignale model finally matches what you’d expect from a premium brand. Equipped with adaptive LED headlights, ambient interior lighting, luxurious leather seats, and 20-inch polished alloys, the Edge was a perfect choice for most Ford customers.
Even for an SUV, it’s not a bad choice. Its one semi-high-rise hip point makes getting in and out a breeze, and the recessed sills are concealed by the ‘wraparound’ doors, so you won’t have to worry about dirt getting on your legs.
With large and deep cupholders, door pockets, and a cubby in the middle armrest that can handle smaller bags and tablets, it’s practical as well. There is a three-prong electrical hookup in the backseat as well. We found that, when compared to the Hyundai Santa Fe, Range Rover Sport, and Lexus RX, it offers more legroom in the rear seat. The trunk is roomier than most large SUVs, and our test vehicle’s already excellent headroom would have been considerably more so without the panoramic roof. 2027 Ford Edge Specs

Engine & Performance
Ford anticipated the problems of coming into the European luxury SUV market with the performance of the Edge, which demonstrates calm composure and assured demeanor on the road. Our measured 9.7-second sprint to 60 mph is not very impressive because the dual-clutch transmission has a moderate initial step-off, even when traveling at full speed.
But in a spacious and cozy car, such quirks are less noticeable—and maybe even preferred. The Edge easily motivates its heft on the road, provides efficient wind and engine noise insulation, and has a more competitive 30-70 mph through-the-gears speed. It also feels torquey in gear.
According to Ford, the active noise cancellation technology is quite significant. It detects ambient noise using the car’s three microphones and then emits canceling noise at frequencies that are so low that they are hardly heard. Also, the company really nailed it when it came to isolating the 2.0-liter diesel engine and transmission from the carriage.
This two-ton vehicle’s engine may not look strong, but it pulls with just the right amount of accuracy at low rpm to let you overtake in higher gears and keeps up a rapid pace even when not driven to its limits.
A little gripe is that you can’t hold a gear all the way to the foot of the accelerator pedal’s travel in manual mode, and there isn’t a kickdown button at the bottom of the pedal’s journey, so the car feels a little unresponsive and unpredictable when you accelerate rapidly. Its braking mechanism is effective.
We tested a mid-spec car with ordinary 19-inch wheels that came to a stop from 70 mph in less than 50 meters, despite having a lot of dip but yet maintaining good stability. An ST-Line vehicle with 20-inch wheels may have done even better in those same dry circumstances. 2027 Ford Edge Specs
2027 Ford Edge Fuel Economy
The EPA estimates that the standard 2027 Ford Edge will get 21 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the interstate, and 23 mpg combined. The ST with a V6 engine now gets better gas mileage: 19/25/21 (city/highway/combined).
2027 Ford Edge Safety Features
Automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert, and lane-keeping assist are standard on all 2027 Ford Edge models. Rear parking sensors are a factory option on every SEL model. Titanium and ST trim levels may also have front parking sensors.
The $775 Ford Co-Pilot help+ adds navigation, evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control, and is available on the SEL and higher model levels. Optional trim-specific features include automatic parking and 180-degree front and rear cameras for the Titanium and ST.
The Edge is equipped with a 12-inch touchscreen, six speakers, four USB ports, satellite radio, and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On subsequent trim levels, the SEL’s Convenience Package ($1,250) adds wireless charging and a standard household outlet as standard equipment. Specific to the Titanium and ST models is a Bang & Olufsen 12-speaker audio system.
